Pergola 95% Finished

Here is the pergola, 95% completed. We still have to bolt the top timbers and get some prettier chairs but so far so good. My hubby is awesome for always catering to my whims. He never even complains. I'll keep him.

The BBQ looks a little out of place sitting there but at least it is no longer on my walkway to the front door. Maybe someday an outdoor kitchen is in my plan, but not today. Today is just a medium style barbecue. We are also toying with adding a bar/counter top between the uprights on the far side of this picture. Then we would have food serving space or a place to eat if we want to. I wish we had built the patio a little bigger but expanding it is now out of the question. I am happy with the final product. I thought some fun Adirondack chairs in front of the fire place would be nice.  And Doyle said he would look for some nice, big, flat stones to make a walkway so the lawn isn't so crunched down in front of it. Construction is hard on grass.

  9. Looks so nice, Heather! When you get 4 feet of snow, you can build it into a square igloo. Those redwood corner beams can be your studs. :-)

  13. Looks good, Heather. I really admire how you plan your projects and then keep pushing to see them through to completion.

Also, the patio looks like a good size to me. We made ours a little too big and I had to move the furniture in toward the center so we didn't have to shout.

  18. That really does look good and, like some of your other commenters, I am quite jealous. I got a permit to put a patio in my back yard some time ago, and alas we have still not broken ground. -At least I'll have future fodder for my blog.

  20. Fab pergola, what are you going to grow up it? I've been hankering after one for years.

Love the Pygmy's I used to have some when I was growing up, but they used to be terrible little menaces around the big herd with their horns at such a low height. Sadly not a great mix with dairy goats.

I will have to come back and investigate further, great blog!
