I took cedar mulch and placed it around the beans this year and found very little damage. It's kind of jagged and splintered and slugs don't seem to like it!Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00524456191483377274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6056175194573952795.post-62566681607875619742009-06-12T06:57:50.611-06:002009-06-12T06:57:50.611-06:00You are so fortunate to have such an area for grow...You are so fortunate to have such an area for growing veggies!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13061146166736270529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6056175194573952795.post-68315770980785240262009-06-11T20:54:41.968-06:002009-06-11T20:54:41.968-06:00Hi Heather! I wonder if it's from unseasonably cool weather, but I've had to replant a few myself. I had vine borers in my squash last year. They are gross! This year I moved the squash to a different area and I'm going to pre-treat with spinosad. Hopefully any borers that try to bite the vines will ingest the spinosad and die before they bore. At least that's the plan. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Enjoy the convention! -JackieEllie Mae's Cottagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13889959606127833480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6056175194573952795.post-63173418035262032382009-06-11T20:12:32.387-06:002009-06-11T20:12:32.387-06:00Forgive you the weeds? Meg straw mulches the plants so they can take the heat easier, might be cooler there and you might not need to do it. We do get wheat seeds in the straw that have to be weeded out our way.<br />Oh, tie strings to your bean teepee, we are doing the same for our Lemon cucumbers.Randy Emmitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10292186655869617897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6056175194573952795.post-66107670923430014832009-06-11T19:08:59.294-06:002009-06-11T19:08:59.294-06:00Heather, I am in awe of your ranch and gardens, Im...Heather, I am in awe of your ranch and gardens, Im sooo envious of you vistas and views and how weed free all your gardens are!
